Caffey Family Memorial Scholarship

Scholarship Purpose: To establish an award supporting Scholarship for students pursuing a degree in education. Brandon, Rodney and Gregory, all graduates of Illinois State University, were moved to establish this scholarship because of the importance of education instilled in them by their parents and their desire to impact students at Illinois State University, through the legacy of a scholarship to honor their family.

Financial Need: This scholarship requires a student to have a Financial Need to be eligible to receive the scholarship. In order to establish "Financial Need", a student must file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). You can file the FAFSA at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/.

This scholarship is not open to International Students.

  • o Student must provide an essay of no more than 300 words on the importance of diversity of educators in the classroom

  • o Student must be of junior or senior standing, having completed freshman and sophomore years at Illinois State University

  • o Preference given to students graduating from a public high school in Illinois located in the St. Louis MO Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA)

  • o Preference given to students who have demonstrated experience in or commitment to working with historically underserved or marginalized populations

  • o Preference given to students that are seeking a Social Science or English Endorsement

  • o Student must be in good standing in the College of Education
