Civil Service Scholarships

Scholarship Purpose: The Illinois State University Civil Service Council awards financial assistance to the dependents of Illinois State University civil service employees who are attending Illinois State University. Faculty, staff, retirees, and others may make contributions to the Civil Service Scholarship Restricted Fund. A second award is presented to employees' children attending another University. Contributions for this fund are raised by the civil service council and the same requirements apply. Awards will be presented at the discretion of the Civil Service Council, generally in the amount of $500 each ($250 per semester).Candidates must be a child living in the household and/or be a dependent of a full-time ISU Civil Service status employee, be a full-time student working toward an undergraduate degree or diploma, and have a grade point average of "C" or above in high school and/or college. Financial need will be considered. A recipient may be awarded a maximum of two one-year scholarships.

High School GPA: There is no High School GPA requirement for this scholarship.

Essay: An Essay is required towards applying for this scholarship.

Financial Need: This scholarship requires a student to have a Financial Need to be eligible to receive the scholarship. In order to establish "Financial Need", a student must file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). You can file the FAFSA at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/.
