Danny Mathews Memorial Scholarship

Scholarship Purpose: The Danny Mathews Memorial Scholarship is being established to honor the memory and legacy of Danny Mathews. The goal of the Danny Mathews Memorial Scholarship is to recognize members of the Illinois State Community who seek to make transformative change on-campus or in the community for LGBTQIA+/Queer people through civic engagement and social justice work.

Miscellaneous Information

  • o Preference will be given to students who are members of any of the following registered student organization communities: Black Student Union, Pride, Asian Pacific American Coalition, Tribe, and Assoc. of Latin American Students.*

  • o Applicants should submit an essay of at least 300 words detailing one of the following: 1. How being members of the LGBTQIA+/Queer community has shaped the way that they do social justice and equity work. 2. Ways that they collaborate with other communities to create sustainable liberatory work for all LGBTQIA+/Queer people including those with intersecting identities.
