Delora Mast Endowed Teaching Scholarship

Scholarship Purpose: The Delora Mast Endowed Teaching Scholarship was established by Karel Thompson to honor her mother's career as an educator. Delora, a full-time mother for many years, returned to school at age 50 to pursue a teaching degree, and graduated from Illinois State University's College of Education in 1965 with a degree in social sciences education. She taught in the Peoria suburbs for more than a decade and was passionate about making a difference in the lives of her students and helping them to understand that learning about history can be fun and interesting.

Miscellaneous Information

• Be accepted for enrollment or enrolled in good standing in the college of Education at Illinois state University.
• Submit a typed essay of 250 words or less describing how they will benefit from this scholarship and explaining why they are interested in becoming a teacher.
• Preference will be givne to non-tradtional students over the age of 25 or a student who is a single parent.
• The preferred filing period is October 15 - November 15. Applications will not be accepted after March 31.
