Scholarship Purpose: The Dr. Tom Crumpler Scholarship was established by Thomas Lucey in order to support the College of Education. Dr. Tom Crumpler was an accomplished faculty member in the School of Teaching and Learning (TCH). His research focused on formative assessment in literacy, teacher identity, and process drama as a tool for learning. During his tenure at Illinois State University, he directed the Mary and Jean Borg Center for Reading and Literacy, The Reading Recovery Program, and the doctoral program, and he took on other leadership roles, such as co-editor of Action in Teacher Education, a national peer-reviewed academic journal. He was also a recipient of the College of Education's Outstanding Researcher Award. The Dr. Tom Crumpler Scholarship is being established by Thomas Lucey to honor Dr. Crumpler's dedication to the College of Education.
