Scholarship Purpose: Th Evelyn Hanson Durdin - Hazel Hanson Scholarship endowment was established in March 1999 by Evelyn Hanson Durdin to honor her mother Hazel Hanson, who encouraged her to reach her career goals. Evelyn earned two teaching certificates, taught in rural and town schools for many years, attended summer school, and graduated from Illinois State in 1946. This scholarship is awarded to students in the College of Education with an interest in teaching.
