Scholarship Purpose: F. Russell Glasener taught economics at Illinois State Normal University for almost a quarter century, from 1935 to 1959. While on faculty he served as the first Secretary-Treasurer of the University Foundation and helped to organize the University Council, serving as its president for two years. As a volunteer leader in the community he served as councilman for the Town of Normal, McLean County board member, vice president of Citizens Savings and Loan, and lay leader in the Methodist church. As a tribute, Glasener Beach at Comlara Park was named in his honor. This scholarship was established in his memory and as a part of his legacy. Its purpose is to provide support to a worthy student who is majoring in economics.
