Scholarship Purpose: Dr. Maureen Block graduated from Indiana University, where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society, and from the University of Illinois Medical School. She completed her residency and fellowship at Rush Medical College. Maureen was a longtime partner and managing partner at the Illinois Heart & Lung Associates. She was an active member of the American Thoracic Society and was a member of the American College of Chest Physicians, the Society of Critical Care Medicine, Illinois Heart & Lung Foundation Board of Directors, and one of the founding physicians of Women's Health Night. Maureen's life as a wife, mother, daughter, physician, colleague, and friend was all too short when she died at the age of 41.
