Scholarship Purpose: The John Joseph Hoover Special Education Endowed Special Education Scholarship was established by John J Hoover in order to support graduate level students enrolled in the LBS1 program. John is a 1973 Special Education graduate who has dedicated his career to preparing students to enter the profession of teaching special education.

- o Student must be enrolled in the College of Education graduate program: Special Education LBS 1 Certification
- o Student must be at a grade level of: Graduate Student
- o Student must provide a personal statement of no more than 100 words on the value of this certification program to their work in the field of Special Education and their plan to work in or work with special education learners
- o Preference given to students that plan to seek out opportunities to work with special education learners in rural communities
- o Student must be committed to completing the 1 year, 15 credit hour program, by working with program administrators to determine a timeline of taking the necessary examinations to receive certification
- o Scholarship will be awarded for the following term: One-Time Award
- o Award will be provided for up to 2 students annually
