Scholarship Purpose: This scholarship was created with donations from family, friends, former teachers, classmates, and supporters from Justin's hometown of Bartlett as well as surrounding communities. Justin enjoyed volunteering with Special Olympics events, participated in activities with his school, was a National Honor Society member, and was athlete of the year at his high school in 2006. He came to Illinois State to pursue an education as a special education teacher. He realized that dream in May 2010 but tragically passed away one month before his first job as a teacher. The fund was created to honor and remember Justin's commitment to teaching students with special needs. The purpose is to provide financial support for a student planning to become a special education teacher, with preference given to male applicants.
