Karyn L. Aguirre Promise Scholarship

Scholarship Purpose: Karyn L. Aguirre '86 established the Karyn L. Aguirre Promise Scholarship to give students a sense of hope as they pursue their educational journeys. The scholarship honors Aguirre's mother, who passed on her philanthropic spirit and belief in the value of education. Through her generosity, Aguirre seeks to become a champion and source of encouragement for students, regardless of their background or status.

Financial Need: This scholarship requires a student to have a Financial Need to be eligible to receive the scholarship. In order to establish "Financial Need", a student must file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). You can file the FAFSA at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/.

This scholarship is not open to International Students.

Miscellaneous Information

• ¿ Chicago Public High School graduate with a high school grade point average between 2.5 and 2.95.
• ¿ Submit a personal statement (maximum of 500 words) demonstrating how their life experiences have fostered an understanding of and commitment to addressing issues of diversity and inclusion in African American communities.
• ¿ Submit a separate personal statement (maximum of 200 words) acknowledging the promise the student sees in themselves.
