Scholarship Purpose: The Livingston Family Endowed Scholarship was established in 2002 by Duane Livingston to honor his wife Sandra, mother Wilma, father T.O. and grandfather C.L. Livingston. The scholarship supports students enrolled in the College of Business who are active in the Black Student Union or National Association of Black Accountants and/or Association of Latin American Students. Duane is a native of Decatur and a graduate of the accounting program in the class of 1970 at Illinois State University. He began his management career at Caterpillar right after graduation and was elected vice-president and officer in 1995. He served on Illinois State University's Accounting Advisory Board for several years. He holds the distinction of being the first African-American manager sent on an overseas assignment for Caterpillar and was also their first African-American vice president. Preference given to students with demonstrated financial need.
