Scholarship Purpose: This scholarship was established in April 2010 by the Department of Criminal Justice at Illinois State University to honor Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. for his work and ideals. Reverend King dedicated his life to social justice--working for people whose voices were silenced and for those who were victimized by a system that protected the interests of the status quo. The purpose of this fund is to assist students with their educational or housing expenses as they pursue a future career in criminal justice to further the ideals of social justice.
