Scholarship Purpose: Ron Ulmer received a B.S. in secondary education in 1970 and a Masters degree in economics in 1975 from Illinois State University. He enjoyed careers in teaching, rate analysis, marketing, and entrepreneurship. When Ron was an instructor he appreciated the efforts of average students who had a passion for learning and a willingness to work hard. He could relate to the fighters and scrappers and "late bloomers" in life, having been one himself. The purpose of this fund is to provide students who have average grades and a passion for learning economics with the opportunity to receive a degree in economics.
