Star for Nursing Education Endowed Scholarship

Scholarship Purpose: The Star for Nursing Education Endowed Scholarship provides financial support and encouragement for students enrolled in the Mennonite College of Nursing at Illinois State. The funds must be used for educational, housing, and/or materials expenses (i.e. books, uniforms, equipment). The fund was established in 2010 by Joe and Michael Talkington. Joe retired from Illinois State in 1991 after having served as a faculty member and chairperson in the Department of Technology. Upon his retirement he began the Star Uniform business. He sold the business to his son, Michael, who attended University High, where he played basketball and football. Michael received his bachelor's in finance from Illinois State in 1980.
