Terry Adkins Memorial Scholarship for Diversity
Scholarship Purpose: The Terry Adkins Memorial Scholarship for Diversity was established in 2016 in recognition of Terry's career as a distinguished artist. The scholarship will support a student who is from a traditionally underrepresented population and majoring in art at Illinois State University. Terry completed his undergraduate studies in 1975 at Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee. He earned his M.S. at Illinois State University in 1977 and an M.F.A. at the University of Kentucky in Lexington in 1979. He is a member of the College of Fine Arts Hall of Fame and was the 2012 commencement speaker at the Wonsook Kim College of Fine Arts commencement ceremony.

Art applicants are automatically considered for all currently available departmental scholarships during their application to Illinois State University Wonsook Kim School of Art. Scholarship offers are determined based on the application materials provided (digital portfolio, academic standing, etc.), and are typically offered by March of each spring semester. Art Scholarships for current, continuing students:
Current Art majors are encouraged to submit a single digital portfolio of artwork during 'scholarship season,' which occurs annually at the onset of the spring semester. Portfolios submitted are considered according to academic level by the Wonsook Kim School of Art Scholarship Committee.
