The Fellicia C. Foster Legacy of Leadership Scholarship

Scholarship Purpose: Fellicia C. Foster is a Chicago native and Illinois State University College of Business graduate who has demonstrated leadership excellence, resilience, diligence, and an ability to make a positive difference - both as a student and throughout her corporate career. This endowment was established in 2024, which represents the 20-year legacy she has developed since joining as a student on ISU's campus in 2004. The Fellicia C. Foster - Legacy of Leadership - Endowment Fund will allocate scholarships that recognize the next generation of legacy leavers who have resiliently pushed through challenges to leave their mark on the world - paving the way for future leaders.

High School GPA: There is no High School GPA requirement for this scholarship.

Essay: An Essay is required towards applying for this scholarship.

Financial Need: This scholarship requires a student to have a Financial Need to be eligible to receive the scholarship. In order to establish "Financial Need", a student must file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). You can file the FAFSA at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/.

This scholarship is not open to International Students.

Miscellaneous Information

• Is in good academic standing at Illinois State University
• Graduate of Chicago Public Schools* *If no one qualifies as a graduate of CPS, graduates from high schools in the following counties will be considered: Cook, DuPage, Kane, Kendall, Lake, McHenry and Will.
• Is pursuing a degree within the College of Business
• Held/holds leadership positions with an ISU-registered student organization, including but not limited to officer positions, with a preference for leaders in the Black Student Union ** ** If no Black Student Union leader qualifies, leaders of other organizations that support, empower or advance Black student experiences will be considered.
• Student will submit a personal essay (400 words or less) addressing at least TWO of the following questions: 1. What kind of leader do you want to become? 2. Who or what has been your biggest influence or inspiration? Why? 3. Describe a time where you had to overcome a challenge or barrier. How did you prevail and what did you learn from that experience? 4. In your view, what kind of disruption is needed in Corporate America to ensure it creates and maintains a diverse, inclusive, and equitable workforce for the future? 5. If you were to think of where you desire to be 20 years from now, what legacy do you hope to leave at Illinois State University?
